History of the San Francisco Chapter
The San Francisco Chapter of the California Grand Jurors’ Association was founded in 2001. The local chapter assists the court when requested. Since 2001, the chapter has assisted the court by providing informational meetings to those considering applying to be a juror, interviewing prospective jurors, and training selected jurors. The chapter expanded its outreach program by making various presentations to neighborhood groups.
Through its efforts, the chapter has increased the average number of applicants and publishes an annual newspaper, The San Francisco Civil Grand Jury Gazette, highlighting prior year reports and the effects the reports have on city government and departments, and provides information on how to apply to be a grand jury.
